The Broken Heart

The Broken Heart is a remarkable wood marquetry artwork inspired by the aesthetics of Persian miniature painting, representing a fusion of traditional Iranian artistic delicacy and a contemporary vision of storytelling, composition, and natural color.

The human figure surrounded by mountains, trees, and a dramatic sky creates an emotional narrative expressed through the language of wood.

The artwork measures 60 × 70 cm and is composed of approximately 2,000 individual wooden pieces. Each element has been carefully selected, precisely cut, and assembled by hand in perfect harmony with the surrounding pieces.

The result is a composition rich in detail, with remarkable visual depth and a poetic atmosphere that invites the viewer to pause, explore, and reflect.

A collection of valuable natural woods has been used, including jujube, walnut, pear, barberry, maple, burned walnut, oleaster, bitter orange, and other wood species.

All visible colors originate from the natural tones of the woods themselves, with no artificial pigments applied. The thoughtful selection of each wood piece according to its natural color, grain, and texture plays an essential role in creating emotional depth, shadows, and visual richness.

After completion, the surface was protected with a matte polyester finish. This protective coating enhances durability while preserving the natural beauty of the wood and strengthening the visual depth of the artwork.
